5 reasons why I love to travel with a companion

Some people are solo travellers and some people travel best with others. I firmly sit in the camp of travelling best with others. I still haven’t done my first solo travel trip- even though I know it would be good for my mind and soul. I did have a solo trip booked this year to Bruges but somehow my mum ended up joining me and I have no regrets as we had the best time.

I haven’t rushed into solo travel because I love the great joy of having a travelling companion. Here are 5 reasons why I love travelling with other

I need a photographer (that’s not a stranger)

Now I do love a selfie but I am not a selfie pro! One of the reasons I haven’t ever done a solo travel trip is I wonder who will take endless pictures of me. Now you may say well just ask someone. But you see it doesn’t work like that when you are a luxury travel blogger or any type of blogger for that matter.

A photo isn’t one photo! It is  often several shots before you get the right angle and the right shot and several shots of different angles. The money shot as I often call it can only be achieved with a travel companion.   Also only your travel companion understands that as a blogger Instagram wants a photo of your front and yes it also really loves your back.

I love shared memories

I always say everyone dies but not everyone lives. I am fortunate enough to have lived and shared many great experiences with my various travel companions. So far 2017 travel has bought lots of adventure. Firstly my amazing stay at Trump Turnberry with Aftab. We did so many amazing things including quad biking  and ended up with the moment we share together that one of us ended up in a ditch. Who you may ask, well you know what happens in Turnberry stays in Turnberry.

Or my trip earlier on in the year with my mum to Prague when we had the best time ever and created the best memories.

Or better still when Aftab and I had an amazing time figuring out how to row in Madrid! We laughed, we splashed and we figured out that rowing isn’t that easy. If I didn’t have Aftab with me, we wouldn’t have actually got anywhere!  Aftab best sums it up in this Instagram picture!

I love my food and love to share the love of my food

I love my food and I love to share food with others. I am very Arab/African in that regard. A good meal is best enjoyed with others ohhing and ahhhing over the flavours.

In one of my first ever post on THEZRW I shared with you all that I like to drinkie (caveat in a non alcoholic way).  Some people are foodie’s well I am a drinkie. I really enjoy my bubbles and I love nothing more than sharing those bubbles with another person. Two glasses of fizz is always better than one.

Let’s get real, travelling isn’t cheap and travelling in luxury certainly isn’t cheap! You only need to ask a luxury travel blogger to let you know that hotel costs soon add up.

The Principal Madrid, luxury and travel blogger thezrwAI couldn’t imagine the cost of luxury travel in 5 star hotels as a solo traveller. A travel companion means more trips and more adventures at half the cost!

I am not the best map reader! Before I started my blog my friend Melanie and I went to Amsterdam. It was a brilliant trip despite the fact I walked us around in one full circle without realising it.

I also get lost with Aftab when we went to find the lighthouse in Trump Turnberry. What should have been a 20 minute trip took us 1 hour. This video I put on my Instagram shows how excited I was when we finally found the lighthouse.

Now getting lost with someone is fine. You have to brains two figure it out, two phones and hopefully one person with some sort of a sense of direction. I cannot imagine what it would feel like to get lost my myself. It is something that I am not keen on experiencing any time soon.

I know one day I will experience solo travel but for now I absolutely love travelling with someone else……..
What type of traveller are you? Zoe x

The photographer part made me laugh haha – I totally agree though. However, my favourite part is definitely travel memories. I can’t wait to make more next year (hopefully they are easier than rowing!)

I agree with all of these esp the need to a photographer who would give you a crooked horizon #travellinkup

OMG so true – I am super afraid of the day I have to ask a stranger to take a photo of my back, or worse, me looking thoughtfully off into the distance haha!
