Not everyday fancy fancy, but when you do go fancy fancy make sure you do it well. I recently shared with you my disengagement with food! I don’t know when it hit me that Michelin starred or expensive restaurant do not have to be an everyday occurrence and nor do those stars mean you will have an amazing meal.When deciding where to eat somewhere fancy fancy I put a lot of time into choosing my restaurant. Even more so on a trip abroad. On my recent trip when deciding where to eat in Prague I had made a reservation to dine at Bellevue with my mother! After a reading a few restaurant reviews I knew I was on the right track.

The restaurant itself is set opposite Charles Bridge and if you are lucky enough (which we were) you get views of the Vlatva river. The restaurant offers a degustation menu or an al carte menu. We both decided we wanted to eat from the al carte as there were some enticing dishes which we really wanted to try that were not on the degustation menu.

To kick start the meal we were served cucumber gazpacho which when the waiter announced it made me think I was on set for an evening of rabbit food! I should have feared not as it was superb. Who knew cucumber had so much taste and flavour!  After the gazpacho we had this delightful morsel of ceviche.  I haven’t ever seen ceviche served like this before and in one bite I had a delightful party in my mouth.

To start I opted for the langoustines with caviar! See when I do fancy I do it well.  The langoustines were very juicy and the risotto was perfectly cooked! My starter really set the bar high. It’s several weeks now since I had this dish and with the exception of a recent meal I had at Trump Turnberry a Luxury Collection Hotel nothing even comes close to tasting as good.

Mummy RW opted for the foie gras! Now I have had foie gras served to me in all manner of slabs and no foie gras  has ever looked as pretty this dish. Wrapped in red cabbage the dish was almost too pretty to eat. I said almost and can attest after two forkfuls of Mummy RW’s dish that this foie gras was on point.

Following our starters I opted for pigeon!  Now I do love my game, and I tend to chose carefully where and when I order it.  The pigeon was simply served and was extremely tender and soft and full of a lot of flavour.  I really enjoyed that the dish was served in a simple manner.

Mummy RW opted for Sea Bass.  The dish was super light and the fish fillets were really tender but full of flavour.

After mains I could not eat another mouthful however Mummy RW tucked into a dessert which I totally forget to take a picture of as we were to engrossed into chatting and by the time I looked down half of the dessert was gone and a photo of half a eaten dessert is not great.  We really enjoyed our fancy fancy meal at Bellevue restaurant and loved the simple atmosphere, beautifully presented food and great service.

    Those langoustines look to die for – I adore their vibrant colour and sweetness, one of my favourite foods!
